Why do my customers have to authenticate upon every payment even though I made a frictionless request?

To qualify for frictionless authentication, the payment must be eligible for an exemption.

If the amount of the transaction is more than €30, it is not eligible for the “Low value transaction” exemption.

Therefore, without the “Frictionless 3DS2” option or if the amount is higher than €30, the preference selection is delegated to the card issuer.

If you have the “Frictionless 3DS2” option and the transaction qualifies for the “Low value transaction” exemption, the issuer may decide that strong authentication is required, even if you have requested frictionless authentication.
